ESSEX HOCKEY MIXED LEAGUE RULES

The home side is the first named team. The away side must change if there is a colour clash.

It is the home team’s responsibility to arrange the pitch and inform the opposition no later than 2 weeks before the match.

If both teams agree, the match may be changed to a more suitable date, and the Essex Secretary must be informed.

Each team must provide an umpire, preferably level one. If this is not possible a non-qualified umpire may be used as long as both teams agree beforehand.

If a team pulls out less than 4 days before the match (ie on the Thursday before the Sunday) the points will be awarded to the opposition. The team may also be liable for any pitch costs incurred.

If a team turns up with no umpire the match is forfeit and the points will be awarded to the opposition.

If less than 7 players are on pitch 20 minutes after the agreed pushback the points will be awarded to the opposition.

Each team must play with a minimum of 5 ladies on pitch. The goalkeeper may be of either sex. If more than 5 men are played on pitch the points will be forfeited and the game considered a 3-0 win to the opposition.

A lady must take first strike at short corners unless both teams have agreed otherwise BEFORE the match.

No player Under 13 years of age shall be permitted to play in the mixed leagues.

All results must be emailed by the home team to joward0@hotmail.com no later than the day after the match. Failure to do so will result in the match being awarded to the away team as a 3-0 victory.
