Training 2009-10

Team training takes place on the astro-pitch at the Colchester Garrison hockey pitch on Circular Road North from September to April. Please note that there is a designated carpark on Circular Road North next to the athletics track. It is no longer permitted to park on the road next to the pitch as before. 

Men's teams:
Monday evenings (19:30-21:00): U15 and U17 boys, Men's 3rds, 4ths, 5ths (all others welcome, too)
Wednesday evenings (19:30-21:30): Men's 1sts, 2nds

Ladies' teams:
Thursday evenings (18:30-20:30): U17 girls, Ladies' 3rds
                            (19:30-21:30): Ladies' 1sts and 2nds 

Tony 'Doc' Elston will be coaching the men's teams (with assistants) and Wayne Masters will be coaching the ladies' teams.

It is the club ethos that all players who wish to play in league games will train. When selecting teams, the Chair of Selectors will give preference to players who regularly attend training.

Pre-season club training runs from 8 July 2009 on Wednesdays 19:00-21:00. Coach Wayne Masters has put together a pre-season training manual with information about how to improve fitness and suggested 4- and 6-week training programmes. Click here to view it.

Summer running group for anyone in the club is on Thursdays from the Garrison, starting 11 June 2009. 

Selection trials take place in early September 2009 at the Garrison for all people who want to play for the club, including new members. This year they were held Saturday 05 September. Photos of the day can be viewed here.

Team training will start beginning of September 2009 (dates will be announced in due course). The early evening training will be open to all Under 15 and Under 17 players. Under 13 players may be invited to come along if coaches feel they are physically able to cope with the sessions.

Post-Christmas holiday training: There will be no senior men's and ladies' training next week Monday 14, Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 December. Training for all seniors will resume the week of Monday 04 January 2010.
